Advanced Satellite Meteorology Training

In an effort to increase our VLab training capability, and in preparation for Himawari 8/9 the Australian VLab Centre of Excellence is presenting 6 lectures and one practical session of the Advanced Satellite Meteorology course as a joint classroom / online event for 2014.

Topics covered include:

  • Advanced training in the use of visible, infrared and water vapour imager
  • Training in the use of microwave scatterometer data, cloud drift wind data
  • Training in the use of rapid scan satellite imagery and RGB products.
  • A practical session to consolidate the learing of the previous 6 sessions.

The Webinar web conferencing software will be used for the online component of the course.

The audience would be expected to have a basic understanding in using satellite imagery on an operational basis within a forecasting office or National Meteorological Centre.

This course is complimentary to employees of International Government Meteorological Agencies.
